US History is a hard topic to teach, especially to advanced teenagers in high school. Have you looked at the prices of high school history textbooks lately?? They are NOT cheap. If you are on a budget (and these days, who isn’t!) it can be extremely difficult to teach history if you can’t afford a book. With that in mind, I went on a search for a free resource for my high schooler. Here’s what I came up with.
Digital History is a WONDERFUL resource for high school US History for homeschoolers. They have a textbook, online exhibits, a timeline, lesson plans, learning modules and more. It’s PERFECT for any homeschooling high schooler (say THAT 5 times fast…) who is studying US History.
I love the free US History textbook because it has interactive features. There are explorations, handouts and lesson plans that can easily be combined with the textbook to create excellent lessons that your child will enjoy much more than reading a dry text book alone.
There is even a historical index, so if there is something specific you want to research or learn about, you can go directly to it.
